Jack Greedy (1929 - 1988)

“Smiling Jack” Greedy, founder of Jack Greedy Ltd, former super-modified race car driver, race-track owner, father of John, Lynn, Norm, and Sue.

At age 19 this baker’s son chose construction as his career. He bought his first car, cut the roof off and made it into a flat bed truck to carry his supplies and towed a cement mixer behind. He started Jack Greedy Ltd in Toronto, and later moved it to Woodbridge.

Jack Greedy was also probably the most prominent race car driver in Ontario in the mid 1960’s. One year he won track championships at Flamboro, Nilestown Speedway, and Delaware Speedway. He raced until 1969, when he switched from driver to track owner and bought controlling interest in Delaware Speedway in London, Ontario. He formed the Ontario Stock Car Racing Association in 1976.
